Catholics believe that Jesus remains truly present in the Eucharist after Mass. In Adoration, the consecrated host is placed in a monstrance, and the church becomes a place for stillness, prayer, reading, silence, and rest before Christ.
You do not need to know special prayers. Sit, kneel, read Scripture, pray the rosary, or simply be quiet. If you are new or returning, Adoration can be one of the gentlest ways to spend time in a Catholic church.
Where to go
St. James has Adoration Monday to Thursday, 9:00 AM to 9:00 PM. Our Lady of the Valley hosts Fill the Valley, an evening of Adoration with music, on the first Thursday of the month from 6:00 to 7:00 PM. St. Benedict's has Adoration on the first Friday of the month from 10:00 to 11:00 AM.
A simple way to begin
Start with ten minutes. Make the sign of the cross, tell Jesus what is on your heart, read a short Gospel passage, and sit quietly. When you leave, make the sign of the cross again and go in peace.
